# Humanize AI Text

Humanize AI text where you write it. Stop pasting into humanizer tools.

### Humanize any AI paragraph
0 / 1,200 characters

Try: Humanize this, Make it sound natural, Rewrite casually, Shorter & more human

## Humanize AI text without leaving the tab.
Humanize your text in Google Docs, Notion, Slack, LinkedIn, Substack, Claude, and any text field on the web.

## What Clico does
### Three things that make your writing sound like you.

**Before**: We need to delve into the data — it's worth noting the trends.

**After**: We need to look at the data. The trends matter.

01 · Cleanup
### Strips the AI tells, keeps your meaning
Em-dashes, “delve,” “in today’s landscape” — gone. Your numbers, names, and specifics stay exactly as written.

02 · Context
### Type @ to pull in any open tab
Pull a Google search, a research paper, an email thread, or any tab into your prompt. Clico reads it and rewrites in context, no tab switching.

03 · Tone
### Presets that match the surface
A Slack message and a cover letter shouldn’t sound the same. Clico has tone presets for both — and a dozen others — so the rewrite fits where it’s going.

## The argument
### What counts as “human writing” in 2026
“Humanize” is not a cheat code. It’s how most good writers already work: draft with help, rewrite in your voice, submit something you stand behind. Editors, professors, and hiring managers mostly agree on one thing in 2026: the bar is not whether you used AI. It’s whether what you submitted sounds like _you_.

### What does “human writing” actually mean in 2026?
AI writing has a tell. It flattens tone. Sentences land at the same length. Adjectives keep reaching for the same few words — “cutting-edge,” “transformative,” “seamless.” Specific detail gets swapped for category detail.

The tools built to catch AI writing are not as reliable as the marketing suggests. [Liang et al. (2023)](https://doi.org/10.1016/j.patter.2023.100779) tested seven popular GPT detectors on real TOEFL essays by non-native English writers. More than half of those human essays got flagged as AI. The same tools almost always cleared essays by native-English 8th graders.

It gets worse. [Sadasivan et al. (2023)](https://arxiv.org/abs/2303.11156) showed that even a light paraphrase is enough to drop detector accuracy to roughly a coin flip. Stanford HAI’s [_AI Index Report 2026_](https://aiindex.stanford.edu/report/) tracks the same gap: commercial detectors still sit well short of reliable, and gains since 2023 have been small.

So what is left as a working definition of “human writing”? Varied rhythm. A stray joke. A hesitation mid-sentence. A number tied to a real moment. A word you would not have picked twice.

### Is using Clico to humanize AI text cheating?
Short answer: not by the 2026 standard. The bar is not whether you used AI. The bar is whether what you hand in sounds like you, and whether you put in real revision work.

Harvard’s [Bok Center for Teaching and Learning (n.d.)](https://bokcenter.harvard.edu/) asks faculty to build AI-resilient assignments around visible revision, process drafts, and in-class writing. The grading line has moved from “did you type it” to “can you defend the final version as yours.”

[Cotton, Cotton, and Shipway (2023)](https://doi.org/10.1080/14703297.2023.2190148), in _Innovations in Education and Teaching International_, make the same case more broadly. The right response to ChatGPT is to redesign how you assess writing, not to ban the tool.

That is the shape Clico is built for. The humanize pass lands at your cursor as a starting point. You still read it, cut the filler, sharpen the argument, and check the facts. It is your draft when you hand it in.

### Why does switching tabs hurt your writing?
Every tab switch has a cost. [Mark, Gudith, and Klocke (2008)](https://doi.org/10.1145/1357054.1357072) ran the study behind the figure you keep seeing online. After an interruption, knowledge workers need on average 23 minutes and 15 seconds to return to the original task.
The typical AI-assisted writing loop pays that tax over and over. Draft in Google Docs. Swap to ChatGPT. Paste back. Hop to Google to fact-check. Each hop flushes the sentence you were about to finish.

Clico is built to collapse the loop. The humanize command runs inside the text box you are already typing in. The @ shortcut pulls the tab you were going to switch to into the prompt instead.

### Use AI for the first pass. Clico for the voice. You for the last read.
That’s the workflow that holds up in 2026. Fewer tabs, more revision, writing that sounds like you.

## FAQ
### Is Clico free to humanize AI text?
Yes. Install it from the Chrome Web Store and start humanizing right away. No credit card, no usage cap.

### Does it work in Google Docs, Notion, and Gmail?
Yes. Clico works inside any text box in any Chromium browser, including Google Docs, Notion, Gmail, LinkedIn, Slack, ChatGPT, Substack, and any regular website form. Select the AI-sounding paragraph, press ⌘+O, type "humanize this," and the rewritten version lands at your cursor.

### Do I need to sign up to use it?
No signup is needed to install the extension or use your first 5 humanize tries. After that, sign in with a free account to keep humanizing without a try cap and to sync your prompt history across devices.

### Does it bypass AI detectors like GPTZero and Turnitin?
Clico rewrites AI-generated text to read more naturally by varying sentence rhythm, trimming filler, and restoring a human voice. In our internal tests, humanized output consistently scores lower on GPTZero, Turnitin, and Originality.ai than the raw AI draft. Detector accuracy changes over time, so we recommend always re-reading and lightly editing the output before submitting anywhere that matters.

### How is this different from rewriting manually?
Manual rewriting means reading, paraphrasing, and restructuring every sentence yourself. Clico does the first pass in one keystroke, right where you're writing. The humanized draft lands at your cursor. Accept it, tweak it, or re-prompt for a different tone.
